Webinar: Discovering Nuances in Digital Pathology Billing

Wednesday, August 23, 1:00-2:00 p.m. EST

Presented by:

Jeanette M. Gray, MBA – ProPath

Robin Miller Zweifel, BS, MT(ASCP) – BioReference Laboratories

Join us for an insightful conversation around the new Category III CPT Codes for digital pathology and the additional codes recently announced to be effective 1/1/2024.  Even though CMS has not priced these codes yet, if performing digital pathology as defined by CMS rules, labs should be billing accordingly for payers to collect the data to support future reimbursement. Jeanette Gray and Robin Zweifel will discuss the current state of billing for digital pathology: how the Category III CPT Codes differ, documentation necessary to support billing, and focus on strategies to ensure labs are capturing digital pathology codes appropriately. As labs are moving more to digital pathology since the pandemic, it is important to ensure labs can recoup some of the expense of digitizing slides for pathologists’ interpretation.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the Category III add-on codes for digital pathology.
  2. Identify key rules and pricing strategies for billing to payers.
  3. Learn what labs are currently experiencing when billing for these codes
  4. Considerations when working with pathologists and LIS vendor to support billing.

  • APF Member Rate: Free
